Racism and prejudice based on origin are deeply embedded in the structures, cultures, and everyday interactions of many workplaces, often in ways that go unnoticed or unnamed.
This introductory webinar offers an accessible, honest, and thoughtful entry point into understanding what racism is, where it comes from and how it shows up at work. Drawing on real-world examples and guided reflection, participants will explore the difference between individual bias and systemic racism, examine how prejudice linked to national origin, ethnicity and heritage can manifest in professional settings, and begin to consider what a genuinely anti-racist approach looks like in practice.
This session is designed for organisations taking their first steps on this journey, creating space for honest conversation, building a shared language, and laying the foundation for meaningful change.
Learning Objectives
Build a shared understanding of key concepts including racism, prejudice, ethnicity and origin-based discrimination and explore how these show up in workplace culture and everyday interactions.
Recognise the difference between individual bias and structural or systemic racism, developing awareness of how both can cause harm regardless of intent.
Identify first steps toward anti-racist practice, both personally and organisationally, leaving with a clearer sense of what meaningful, sustainable action can look like.
